Summary of Position

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the sale of the company’s products with a focus on distributors and direct-sales accounts in the region of Rocky Mountain. This position manages and coordinates the activities of the company’s branded sales efforts including development, execution and administration of regional sales programs, objectives, and profit margins.

This position is supported by a Sales Coordinator who will assist with processing and fulfilling orders.

Responsibilities:

Reports To: Western Director of Sales

Responsibilities

  • Achieves sales and profit plan for assigned region to help attain company goals.

  • Prospects and establishes new retail, wholesale and corporate accounts in all areas of trade

  • Participates in food shows as a means to introduce new and seasonal products, expand penetration of current products and obtain new accounts through use of show promotions.

  • Presents entire product line for all retail/distribution and wholesale departments e.g. produce grocery, deli, health foods, etc., to determine customer needs and best fit of product.

  • Seeks distributor relationships, where necessary, to sell product in selected geographic locations or to assist in penetrating targeted accounts.

  • Implements proactive strategies to achieve sales goals and target accounts within market.

  • Prepares plan-o-grams and oversees sets or re-sets to keep retail customers stocked and rotated with fresh product to maximize their sales.

  • Keeps abreast of competitor information, customer policy changes, and market trends and notifies home office of findings.

  • Ensures assigned brokers receive same information and communication about products and policies as assigned sales representatives.

  • Manage brokers for overall efficiencies and maximize sales

Miscellaneous/Other:

  • Performs other related activities/duties and participates on project teams as apparent or assigned.

  • Exercises discretion and confidentiality in all dealings and negotiations involving sensitive company information.

  • Manage difficult client/customer situations.

  • Deals with frequent change, delays or unexpected events

  • Identify and resolve problems and respond promptly to customer needs.

  • Meet deadlines and work under a fast paced, high stress environment

  • Develop and execute sales plan for the Rocky Mountain market segment to achieve company growth and profit objectives.

  • Maximizes all opportunities in the process of closing a sale resulting in the taking of market share from competitors

  • Sells consultatively and makes recommendations to prospects and clients of the various packaging solutions the company offers to their sustainability issues

  • Develops a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face cold calling on business owners, direct mail, email, and networking. Manages opportunities with the company’s CRM tool.

  • Spends 50% of time in the field conducting ride-withs for existing distributors to generate new sales

  • Spends 25% prospecting new distributors

  • Spends 15% of time on direct end-user business

  • Spends 10% of time planning and participating in distributor meetings geared towards training and education

  • Oversee all aspects of account management, including order fulfillment, credit account status, training, and demonstration of product, etc.

  • Participates in other sales and customer service activities as requested

  • Assists in the implementation of company marketing plans as needed

  • Creates and presents effective presentations

  • Supports, demonstrates and promotes the philosophy and company mission of Eco-Products

  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Must live in market: CO, UT, NM, AZ, WY or MT

  • General understanding of foodservice distribution and disposables markets

  • Ability to manage all aspects of supplier relationship management

  • Ability to build strong relationships with distributors and close sales

  • Excellent customer service skills and the genuine desire to negotiate win/win situations

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team to achieve goals

  • Ability to self-manage remotely including strong planning and time management skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills; Excel skills including knowledge of pivot tables, sorting functions, formulas, and ERP solutions

  • Excellent presentation skills both to customers and internal contacts to include PowerPoint preparation and presentation

  • Self-motivated and willingness to contact dozens of new accounts per day with the possibility of rejection on each call

  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values

  • Ability to travel 50 – 70%

  • May be required to work weekends for tradeshows, etc.

  • Some physical labor required

  • Required to reside in Region

  • Advanced analytical/analysis skills including proficient Excel experience.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills with the ability to learn inventory management software.

  • Professional communication skills with the ability to resolve issues between internal and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Strong inclination towards sustainability in business and personal environments.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and 5 or more years of sales experience preferably in the food service industry.Additional Responsibilities
