Reports to: Adirondack Plant Manager
Location: Adirondack, NY
Responsible for planning, designing, arranging, changing, optimizing and documenting manufacturing processes. Duties will include all engineering work related to the manufacturing processes, product development and Lean/Continuous Improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop product manufacturing specifications and quality standards based on new product requirements.
Manage sample requests from Product Manager
Implement and train workers on new specifications and standards.
Document and maintain product and manufacturing documentation.
Maintain Bill of Material and Routings
Investigate and recommend new manufacturing processes and procedures.
Manage both large and small manufacturing projects.
Develop processes and recommend materials to ensure that quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met.
Research the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment.
Utilize Value Stream Mapping and other Lean tools for Continuous improvement for all manufacturing processes.
Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and recommend corrective action
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and five years of applicable experience preferred, or comparable experience and working knowledge of motion and time analysis.
Background in working with 6 sigma tools for analyzing production data.
Proficient with Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Excellent verbal and written organization skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Self motivated with good follow-up
Work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to work under time constraints.
AutoCAD experience a plus.
Working Conditions: Majority of work will be performed in general office settings and various manufacturing operations. Some travel required.
Safety Hazards: Hazards associated with a manufacturing/production environment. There will be potential exposure to dust, fumes, dirt, noise, vibrations, chemicals, solvents and machines.
The ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and/or management within the organization. Must have good written presentation and verbal communication skills.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra.
