Job Summary:

  • Handle all raw materials & finished goods in order to maintain a smooth operation for both manufacturing and warehouse.

  • Minimum 40 hours per week as indicated by the workload of that particular time period.

Job Responsibilities by Priority:

Priority Task Description

1 Manage Material flow to and from production lines


  • Daily monitor all lines, anticipate, and supply each line with all materials (including raw materials, boxes, poly bags, pallets, etc.) that will be needed throughout the shift

  • Interact with machine operators on a daily basis in order to be able to anticipate any needs that they may have

  • At the end of the shift, all lines should be stocked to a level that will allow for a smooth transition between shifts. A minimum of a two-hour supply of raw materials should be at each line at the start of each shift.

  • Ensure the raw materials are stored safely, protected from damage, and properly labeled at all times.

  • At the end of every job, material handler is to assist the operator in determining the amount of materials that will be reported as being returned to stock. It is very important that this number is accurate in order to maintain an accurate inventory. All packets are to have an ending inventory done.

  • In addition, at the end of every job, all materials, including where applicable, boxes, layer pads, poly bags etc. are to be returned to the warehouse. Also, rejected materials (labeled with the NCMR) are also to be put away in the proper place.

2 Manage Material flow to and from production lines


  • The Handler is responsible to take finished product pallets

From the isle way in the warehouse once the operator has staged the finished product pallet in the warehouse isle way.

  • When finished pallets are taken from the isle way in the warehouse, they must be neatly put away in the proper place.

3 Manage Regrind

  • Maintain the un-ground inventory levels to a manageable level, with the input of the supervisors and/or warehouse manager, change over the grinders (clean out) when appropriate.

  • Grind rolls and parts when applicable.

  • All grind that is produced on each shift must be audited to ensure that it is free from contamination (see procedure PFP017)

  • Monitor, and change Gaylord’s for all grinders, and ensure the areas are kept cleaned on a daily basis. This is critical to maintaining a safe environment.

  • Ensure gaylords are properly weighed, and labeled, and secure before staging in warehouse.

  • Ensure all Gaylord weights are written on the Employee production sheets.

  • Monitor empty gaylords and when issuing 2nd last

4 Machine Operation

  • Assist production staff in emergency situations, or as directed by your supervisor.

5 Load/Unload/Stage Trucks

  • Unload, load trucks, or stage trucks as necessary, or directed by your supervisor.

6 Warehouse Housekeeping

  • Keep production and warehouse floor and dock swept and kept clean at all times. Operators are responsible for areas directly around their machines, material handlers for the aisle ways, etc.

  • Empty large trash bins on a daily basis, or as required.

  • Ensure all empty pallets, boxes etc are removed, and placed in the appropriate locations on a daily basis.

  • Maintain AIB standards, and ensure requirements are being met at all times.

  • Do a daily walkthrough prior to the end of your shift to ensure warehouse cleanliness is meeting expectations.

7 Safety Keep safety in mind at all times when operating handling equipment, or loading, or un-loading trucks. Ensure safety measures are always being used, and communicate effectively with your Supervisor of any concerns regarding safety.

Good work habits, and communication skills. Must be computer literate, and be qualified and trained to operate a lift truck, as well as other material handling equipment. Good organizational skills are also required.
