Job Summary: The Operator Direct Print Operator will be responsible for complete set-up, running, and cleanup of the direct print machine and heat press. Will be a back up to the Zund cutter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management as necessary.

  • Responsible to set up fabric and load art files with speed and accuracy

  • Responsible for filling ink wells, and documenting batch numbers

  • Performs routine cleaning, and minor repairs on sonic cutters, heat press and Zund cutter.

  • Inspects produced prints and repairs problems.

  • Mounts fabric rolls in printer and heat press.

  • Adjust heat press and dryer settings if needed.

  • Adjust print quality.

  • Diagnose and trouble shoot machine and process problems.

  • Clean ink over spray, ink spills, fabric lint and strings using hand tools and belt washer.

  • Based on production order paperwork received from cutting information from SAP, validate that correct fabric is being printed on, correct art image is being used.

  • Bundle and package according to specifications; Must be able to determine a final part count quickly and accurately.

  • Move printed fabric to the next department receiving/staging area.

  • Document heat press temperature readings.Communicate to Supervisor when out specification.

  • Inspect for quality issues of printing on fabric pieces (cure, position, clarity & print quality, registration, shrinkage, colors, proper side of material).Notify Supervisor of concerns.

  • Routinely check fabric for defects, runs, stains, etc. by distinguishing fine visual details and color variations

  • When print or cut work needs to be replaced; retrieve proper art file and proper fabric.Ensure proper traceability and paper work.

  • Support 5S process initiative by keeping work area clean.Assist in defining where things should go and put them in their place, tag items that do not belong with red tags.

  • Notify Group leader / Maintenance when experiencing problems with equipment.

  • Completes required documentation including but not limited to recording production quantities, downtime, scrap, through put.

  • Responsible for injury prevention and promoting safety by keeping work area neat, clean and organized.

  • Performs miscellaneous other assignments as required.

  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as listed above between the assigned start and end times for work.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma, general education degree (GED) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees in the organization. Ability to interact and communicate with co-workers on all business related issues.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to read numbers, count, add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Measure using a ruler.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to comply with company’s and regulatory agencies quality standards.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time. The employee is required to use fingers, hands and arms to operate machines and reach for, hold, grasp, push/pull, and handle material repetitively with a high degree of dexterity. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 to 75 pounds regularly. Distinguish fine visual details and color variations

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to limited moving mechanical equipment.
