PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing and distribution of payroll. Assist with general accounting functions that include journal entries, account reconciliations and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsible for the processing, balancing, and distribution of C.O.R. factory payrolls.
Maintain Kronos time keeping system to ensure the accuracy of payroll records.
Audit employee timecards within Kronos each pay period to ensure hours are reasonable and that fringe hours including: jury duty, vacation, PTO, military leave, etc. are paid according to Company Policies.
Continually maintain PeopleSoft payroll database and applicable payroll records.
Answer requests from outside agencies. Answer inquires from employees and management.
Complete monthly Payroll and Accounts Payable balance sheet reconciliations.
Run all PeopleSoft Payroll processes including uploading the Kronos time file, reconciling hours, entering and reviewing deduction overrides, submitting direct deposit, positive pay, and tax files for the Coleman Weekly/Hourly and the Deferred Compensation payrolls.
Administer and review payroll deductions as assigned.Includes monitoring missed deductions and adjusting arrears balances as needed.
Responsible for calculation of assigned payroll reserves such as PTO and PFP accruals.
Responsible for completing monthly reconciliations for various Payroll accounts within a timely manner.
Assist with month end close as assigned.Tasks may include compiling, completing and logging journal entries while ensuring Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
Backup to the Payroll Supervisor.
Assist the Accounting Department with other projects.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
College or business/accounting training preferred.
Three to five years experience in payroll, accounting or human resources required.
Must have demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of records.
General knowledge of computer systems including experience with Microsoft Word and
Excel. PeopleSoft, and Kronos experience a plus.
Must have strong accounting and reconciliation skills.
Individual must be detail-oriented and possess good organizational skills.
Must be a self-starter and have the ability to learn fast and work under little supervision.
Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks with deadlines is required.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Accuracy is required and individual must be conscientious and professional.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Occasional overtime and ability to work longer hours on Monday, Tuesday and occasional holidays is required.
